I can’t believe another school year is coming to a close. It’s been a fun year, and it’s always great to see how much the kids have learned since the fall.
April seemed to fly by in a flash as several of our church families have dealt with illness or other obliga-tions. We did, however, get to share a very special observance in Children’s Church on Sunday, April 17 – COMMUNION. Over the years we have tried to join the adults for Communion in the sanctuary, but it hasn’t always worked out. In order to help the children learn more about Communion, we have started holding our own Communion service in Children’s Church on the same designated Sundays as the adults. I am very excited about this, and I think the kids are too! This month we discussed The Last Supper, talked about how and why we still take Communion today, then took the elements together as a group. This really touched my heart as the kids were completely engaged and so quiet and respectful during this time. I am so proud of them.
May will be busy as we look forward to a fun-filled summer. This month we will study Bible moms. We will celebrate Mother’s Day with a special story and craft on Sunday, May 8. The JOYLAND Choir will be singing that day so we’re also in for a nice treat. May has 5 Sundays so we will celebrate Memorial Day with a super Sunday Funday during Children’s Church on May 29. I have some new games ready so be sure to be here.
Mark your calendars June 24-26 for one of our sum-mer favorites – VBS!!! We’re working on a fun program to remind us that Jesus cares for us.
See you Sunday!
